8th & 9th October 2013 Barcelona – Spain
Europe’s only nuclear power plant simulation (NPPS) forum
“Only in its second year, the European NPP Simulation Forum is already proving to be the “one stop” forum in Europe for nuclear power plant simulation professionals. The next one in Budapest is expected to be bigger and even better!”.
Michael H. Chatlani
Vice President, Marketing & Sales
Power Systems and Simulation
L-3 Communications MAPPS Inc.
While Messi and Gaudi are still the most dominant figures in the beautiful city of Barcelona, NRG Events made their name with the 2nd Annual European Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Forum on the 8th and 9th of October 2013, hosted in the Fira Palace Hotel.
The European Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Forum is rapidly becoming the must-attend event in Europe for Nuclear Power Plants and everyone involved in the Simulator Industry. With speakers on the agenda from 14 different countries and around 75 delegates from more than 20, from as far as South Africa, Canada and Korea the interest in the Forum was huge and proved that there is a huge demand for information about the topics in the industry.
Like last year, the Forum was moderated and chaired in an excellent way by Mr. Michael Chatlani, VP Marketing & Sales from our Lead Sponsor L-3 MAPPS.
The latest technologies, projects, codes, 3D visualization and simulation, strategies and focus points for the present and Nuclear New Build were presented and demonstrated by an excellent speaker line-up. There were presentations from key vendors in the industry (L-3 MAPPS, GSE Systems, Tecnatom, Western Services Corporation and ISS), utilities (NEK, Fortum, Electrabel, EDF Energy), research institutes (IRSN, University of Pisa), the German Simulator Centre KSG-GfS and more.
During the coffee and networking breaks, attendees were networking with our sponsors and exhibitors and amongst themselves in the exhibitor area. Those were great opportunities to get demonstrations of latest technologies, exchange industry information with their peers, talk business and enjoy a drink and snack. Also, NRG Events provided the networking luncheons for more great networking opportunities.
This year´s much anticipated panel discussion was about the challenges of Nuclear New Build. Moderated by Mr. Chatlani, he was joined by panelists Steve Freel, COO GSE Systems, Oussama Ashy, Business Development Director WSC, Robert Boire, Director Proposals Engineering L-3 MAPPS and George Borlodan, Pre-Operations Director NNB for EDF Energy. Many issues and opportunities were discussed and ideas were shared by these expert panelists.
The Forum, the only one of its kind in Europe has been a great success again and based on all the feedback forms we received, it seems there still is a real need for a platform like this in Europe.
With the help and commitment from our sponsors and speakers and the feedback, interest and need for information shown by the attendees we will be working towards our 3rd annual Forum next year and hope to create an even better event. I would like to thank all our sponsors: L-3 MAPPS, Tecnatom, GSE Systems, Western Services Corporation, ISS for their support and belief to make this event a success.
Also a special thanks to our speakers and delegates who made the effort to be part of this Forum and helped us to create the basis for the next successful European Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Forums to come.
We are planning to have our ENPPS 2014 in the beautiful city of Budapest. See you there!
